A full guide on how to use Vintro Concrete Effect Paint
Concrete Effect Paint is our innovative, water-based, low VOC, speciality decorative paint. It is a one-product system that will add interest and style to any interior.
It allows you to create stunning effects on walls and furniture from subtly shaded tones to dramatic, textural roughness imitating concrete and stone.
It gives, depending on the application process, various effects with a clearly visible structure, shading, spalling and pitting.
It can be used on a variety of surfaces and substrates.
Before you start
Before you begin painting, rub down any previously painted surfaces to remove any peeling or flaking paint, paper or plaster. The surface should be dry, and free from grease and dust.
Instructions for use
Stir thoroughly prior to use. The paint in the tin will look much darker before being applied, this is perfectly normal. If in any doubt, make a test patch prior to painting the full wall. Results will vary depending on application method.
- For a subtly shaded look, apply 2 coats of Concrete Effect Paint using a good quality brush, in a cross-hatch style. Leave approximately 60 minutes between coats.
- Using a sponge roller, in a cross-hatch style, will give a gentle texture and less shading.
- For a dramatic effect, with texture and pitting, apply 2 coats with a brush or roller as above, then use a steel trowel loaded with paint to add a final layer. Working in small sections, use broad sweeping strokes either with the trowel flat or at 60-80% angle, depending upon the finish you wish to achieve.
With any of the application methods, you can enhance the appearance by adding more coats.
For a polished look, sand lightly with a fine grit paper.
Depending on room temperature and relative humidity, the surface will normally be touch dry after 30 – 45 minutes.
Vintro Clear Wax can be used to add a subtle sheen, but the colour will deepen. For areas of high moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens, we recommend applying Vintro Extreme Lacquer as a top coat.
Wash brushes in warm soapy water after use.
